|Our client, a defence engineering and electronics provider, is requiring a VMware Engineer to join them on an initial 6 month contract.
Role is working inside IR35, rates flexible and negotiable depending on experience. Role based in Weymouth, Dorset with some remote working available on an ad-hoc basis.
The candidate will have good understanding of virtualisation technologies with hands on experience using the VMware toolset including vSphere 6.7 + (ESXi and vCenter), and Horizon (v7+). This role would suit an infrastructure engineer with proven record in VDI delivery and has a keen interest in implementing innovative turnkey virtualised solutions into the defence sector.

Skills, Qualification and Experience
Hands-on experience with VMware tools (including ESXi 6.7+, Horizon v7+ and vCenter) - Essential Hands-on experience with developing managed switch configuration files (involving OSI layers 2 and 3, TCP/IP unicast and UDP/IP multicast) - Essential Infrastructure performance tuning at hypervisor level, debugging and fixing - Essential Network troubleshooting (in particular IPv4) - Essential Working with a software development team in troubleshooting - Desirable Good understanding of Software Configuration and Build Management - Desirable Knowledge of Linux configuration, or familiarity with RTI DDS - Desirable VMware Certified Professional accreditation or equivalent - Desirable Red Hat System Administration 1 and 2 accreditation or equivalent - Desirable Familiarity with working to requirements and design documentation - Desirable Knowledge of DevOps and Software Engineering best practices, methodologies, processes and tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Packer) - Desirable
