Job Title: Service Desk Engineer

Location: Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire

Salary: £32,000 to £35,000

Clearance: Eligible for SC and DV Clearance

Service Desk Engineer: The Service Desk Engineer will be responsible for prioritising incidents, Service Requests and where appropriate assigning to resolver groups. This position includes a secondary role of active participation in resolution of software faults as a resolver and on occasion providing cover for the hardware engineer in their absence.

THE COMPANY: A leading provider of end to end Geographic Information Systems (GIS) solutions for the management and exploitation of information in the defence and security domain. They provide GIS support and consultancy in the Defence and Security domain both within the UK and overseas. An Esri Partner and the majority of their technical activities involve the deployment and customisation of the latest Esri technology within Defence and National Security environments.

THE ROLE:

The Service Desk Engineer shall be responsible for providing Tier 1 Service Desk support to agreed Service Levels and shall assist in meeting Tier 2 software related KPIs. The Service Desk Engineer shall have a secondary role as a Tier 2 software resolver.

The Service Desk Engineer shall be responsible for ensuring that the Service Desk tool is maintained so that all problem and change management can be conducted through the Service Desk tool.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

* Experience of working on a Service Desk (Service Desk + experience preferred) and responding effectively to incidents.

* Good written and oral communication skills as the central point of contact for service delivery.

* Experience of software maintenance and support to include servers, workstations, laptops, network and peripheral devices.

* Experience in the installation and configuration of Microsoft Server 2008/2012 and Windows 7 workstations.

* Good Knowledge of the configuration and installation of Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) software applications.

* Good knowledge of windows domain architectures, Active Directory, Group Policy and DNS.

* Working knowledge of PowerShell.

* Experience of Network setup and configuration.

* Experience in hardware maintenance of IT systems and printers.

* Experience in the installation and configuration of RAID storage sub-systems.

* Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

* Good knowledge of SQL Server 2008.

* Knowledge of GIS software.

* Knowledge of installation and configuration of virtualisation technologies.

* Configure Microsoft SharePoint and FTP web sites.

* Defence experience.
